When eccentric fountain pen collector, Xaviero Monti, falls to his death, the Mantonis are convinced it's murder. After all, only the good die young, and Xaviero was anything but good. Commissario Garini, however, is sure it was only an accident and refuses to investigate, until the determined Mantoni family forces him to question all the members of the Florentine Fountain Pen Club.
At the same time, the Mantoni family reaches unexpected heights of delight when they learn that Carlina & Stefano are engaged. While Garini tries to get the avid collectors to speak of something besides fountain pens, he also has to stop the family from planning the wedding of the century. Will the engagement lead to the wedding or will the pressure be too much to bear? And will Garini uncover the murderer's diabolical scheme in time to prevent another twisted death?

Classic Death Temptation in Florence Book 6 edition by Beate Boeker Romance eBooks
Classic Death is another winner in this series about the irrepressible Mantoni family. I've read all 6 books in the series and never tire of spending time with this feisty, unpredictable family. Not only has Ms. Boeker created a highly original cast of characters, she continues to invent new and unique plots to put them through their paces. Her stories don't get old and neither do her characters. This time, in addition to the murder they're determined to help Inspector Garini solve, the family has to figure out how to thwart Great Aunt Violetta's scheme to start a new business in celebration of her 100th birthday. I won't tell you what the business is - you have to read it to believe it. An added bonus is some interesting information about fountain pens. I know pens are mightier than swords, but I had no idea they could be so fascinating. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a rollicking good read.Product details

Classic Death Temptation in Florence Book 6 edition by Beate Boeker Romance eBooks Reviews
Ms. Boeker is a genius! I was fortunate to be a beta reader on this project. This book keeps you guessing "who dun it" from the very beginning. The story line is unique and very informative. Her characters were well developed and people you'd like to know personally. Over all, Ms. Boeker did a fabulous job. I highly recommend this read to any who fancy a bit of mystery and mayhem.
Once again Beate Boeker thrilled me with another mystery for the Mantoni's family. While the romance between Stefano and Carlina grows more and more up to a different level, yet another murder (or not?) has to be solved by patient Commissario Garini, though against his will. Fun mixed with love and mystery in proportion for the reader to have some good time!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Poor Stefano Garini! Just when he's become comfortable with Carlina's crazy family and pops the question (in one of the most romantic proposal scenes I've ever read) a hateful fountain pen collector is found dead at the bottom of the stairs in his home. While Stefano believes the death is an accident, Carlina's cousin spurs an investigation which will force Stefano to get involved with a quirky group of pen aficionados who may or may not have had something to do with the unpleasant man's death. Filled with moments of humor and suspense, Classic Death is another winner from Beate Boeker with a beautiful setting and enough twists to keep you guessing til the end. Highly recommended!
I received and ARC (advance review copy) and I was not requested to post a review unless I wanted to. And after reading this book, I do want to.
Let me start by saying that I am writing this review with pleasure, this is a book I can highly recommend and I am certain you'll enjoy it as much as I did. This is not the first book I read from this author I like her writing style, pleasant, smooth, relaxing - you enter effortlessly into the happy, highly Italian and sunny world that is typically hers...and of her characters, Carlina, of American origin and owner of a lingerie shop and her lover and partner, Garini, a rough, savvy and very simpatico Florentine police officer. If you've read any of her previous books about the complex, frolicking, plotting Fellini-like family Ms. Boeker loves to tell us about, then you'll love this book - another good one added to the series.
Classic Death is indeed a "classic death" (the pun is intended), plus there's a lot of interesting information about "classic" writing pens, Pelikan and the like produced in the 1950s and earlier, all sorts of stuff I didn't know, so it was fun to learn what the life of crazed collectors of fountain pens is really like. Not to mention poisonous snakes, awkward nuns with bizarre fixations and slightly insane old ladies, like the family matriarch, bent on launching a start-up in a very peculiar market niche. No, I won't give any of this away, it's a lot of fun and at several points, I found myself laughing heartily. The end is also quite thrilling (and surprising) as befits a good murder tale, a real page turner.
Well done, Ms. Boeker, your sunny and blood-drenched vision of Italy provides your readers with a wonderful escapade.
Another great book by the author
This was a really excellent book. Carina's family is both funny and frustrating for her and Garini. The plot was well written and the mystery was great.
Beate Boeker does it again in Classic Death (Temptation in Florence Book 6). The crazy Mantonis are once again trying to "help" solve a murder while Carlina and Stephano plan their wedding. This mystery is intriguing and fun and as unpredictable as the Mantonis! A great read for a snowy winter day or a sunny day at the beach!
